At Cakes and Chai, we believe that every bake tells a story—and every sweet treat deserves to be paired with something warm and comforting. Proudly home-run in Milton Keynes, we specialise in vegan cakes and bakes crafted with bold flavours, creative flair, and a generous dose of heart.

From gooey brownies and chunky cookies to hearty sourdough loaves and fiery jalapeño “no-cheese” scones, our menu blends indulgence with intention. Everything is made fresh to order in our 5-star Food Hygiene Rated kitchen using quality, plant-based ingredients. We currently operate exclusively online, offering local delivery, free collection, and UK-wide postal shipping.

As a small but growing bakery, we’re always experimenting. We launch new items frequently—and to celebrate, we offer free UK-wide delivery for one week with every new product drop, so you can try something fresh without the extra cost.

🍵 Why Chai?

The word chai comes from the Hindi word for “tea,” which itself traces back to the Chinese word cha (茶). Across South Asia and the Middle East, chai is traditionally brewed strong and spiced — infused with ingredients like cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, and ginger — passed down through generations and shared in community. At Cakes and Chai, we honour these roots. We believe every treat should not only burst with bold flavour (vegan or not), but also be paired with a hot drink that complements and elevates it. That’s why we include complimentary tea with every order (with the option to upgrade to a vegan latte or hot chocolate sachet at checkout).

Long before it reached British teacups, tea was cultivated in regions like India, Sri Lanka, and Kenya – where people were exploited under colonial rule. The British appetite for tea was built on extraction, labour, and injustice. By choosing Fairtrade teas — most often from Birchall’s — we make conscious choices that support fair wages, sustainability, and dignity for the producers behind every cup. So when we say Cakes and Chai, we mean more than just cake and tea. We mean flavour with depth, rituals with roots, and indulgence that honours where it comes from.

We also use recyclable packaging wherever possible, because kindness to the planet is part of our recipe too.

We’re self-taught, quality-focussed, and proudly flavour-obsessed. We love creating bespoke cakes and personalised bakes tailored to your theme, style, or event. You can even add fondant icing messages or request for photos to be printed onto vegan icing and – thanks to our friends at Gensbot – any idea that you can muster up can be made into edible vegan icing magic to add character to your treats.
